Shower and tub spout repair in San Gabriel

Water dribbling from the shower head after it is off, spraying from the arm, or leaking from the spout while the shower runs: each points to a different part. Send a picture to (310) 628-9399.

Where the drip comes from

A head that keeps dripping after the handle is off points to the valve cartridge inside the wall. A spray at the wall plate means the arm threads have lost their seal.

Water still pouring out of the tub spout while the shower runs means the diverter in the spout is worn.

Spouts in older San Gabriel bathrooms

With a 1957 median build year and many houses older than that, plenty of tubs here have spouts threaded onto old brass or galvanized nipples. Those threads can be fragile, so we remove the old spout slowly and match the new one to what is in the wall.

Slip-on spouts held by a set screw are simpler, but the copper stub must be the right length for the new spout to seal.

Swapping a shower head

A new head goes on the existing arm with fresh thread tape. Heads labeled by EPA WaterSense are limited to 2.0 gallons per minute and must pass spray tests (EPA WaterSense).

If the valve cartridge itself is worn, we can quote that repair once we know the valve brand.

Questions from San Gabriel homeowners

My shower drips after I turn it off. Is it the head?

Usually not. A drip from the head after shutoff is typically the cartridge or washer in the valve.

Can you replace a spout without opening the wall?

Yes, in most cases. We work with the pipe that already comes out of the wall.
